FAQ's

| 1) Do I have to leave?
Is it necessary to leave my house to kill the termites?
Not Always.
We can locally treat drywood termites with excellent results utilizing Termidor. These local treatments, depending on location, will not necessarily require you to leave the property. If a fumigation (tenting) is required or preferred the property must be vacated for 72 hours; this will assure absolute safety when you return home.

| 2) Subterranian termites?
Will fumigation (tenting) kill subterranian termites?
Some of them.
Fumigation (tenting) will kill any of the subterranian termites (subs) that are in the structure at the time of fumigation. Unfortunately, the pesky ones that are down in the ground which comprise the majority of the colony will escape without any harm. The only effective way to kill subs is to drill and inject termiticide through and around the foundation of the structure.

| 3) Section what?
What are Section 1, Section 2, and Further Inspection items anyway?
Here is a "plain english" definition of each:
Section 1 items are things that have already become a problem with respect to termites, dryrot, or fungus.
Section 2 items are things that aren't a problem yet but are likely to lead to a problem with wood destroying pests and organisms as described above.
Further Inspection items are things that couldn't be inspected because of some type of obstruction; we have to recommend these items be inspected further even if the obstruction cannot physically be removed or it is impractical to do so.
| 4) Prevention?
Can I do anything to stop termites from coming back or starting in on my structure in the first place?
Yes and No.
Keeping bare wood painted is probably the most obvious preventitive measure but, since Inspections are FREE * (for non-resale), we recommend a yearly inspection and treatments if necessary to keep any new infestations from building into sizable colonies. Termites take quite a while to do damage; yearly maintenance will minimize the damage and keep your investment in tip top shape for many, many years.
